In order for your new or used Pence Nissan to function properly, there are several factors you need to consider. One of the more important elements of proper vehicle maintenance is ensuring all fluid levels in your vehicle are correct. Otherwise, your Nissan may not run optimally and a lack of fluids can lead to a breakdown of your car’s mechanics.
Here are some pro tips from the Pence Nissan Service Center staff for caring for the fluid levels in your vehicle:
Brake Fluid – this vehicle fluid will only become low if there is a leak. Be sure break fluid is at least two-thirds full at all times.
Engine Oil – run your Nissan prior to checking the dipstick for the oil levels. Wipe off the initial oil with a clean rag and reinsert the dipstick for accurate level readings. Low levels indicated will require you to add additional oil one quart at a time and recheck levels. Change oil as indicated by the manufacturer.
Radiator Fluids – to maintain the cooling system, be sure levels are always good. Add equal parts water and engine coolant/antifreeze to the proper fill level.
Transmission Fluids – Manual vehicles will require the engine to be off while automatic Nissans will require the engine to be running to check transmission fluid levels. Low levels may indicate a leak. Dark colored fluid indicates a need for a fluid change.
If you are unable to or unsure of how to properly maintain or change the fluid levels in your Nissan, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment now with our Richmond Nissan service center team. We can evaluate all fluid levels, change filters and fluids, and inspect your engine for any leaks. We want to ensure your Nissan is always safe on the road and we’ll be happy to help.
